Stones River National Cemetery.
The Cemetery was established on March 29th, 1864 to bury Civil War Casualties. The
Cemetery covers 20 acres. There are 6,850 interments
of which 2,562 are unidentified. Burials began in 1865 and were completed by 1867
On the grounds is the Hazen Brigade Monument, considered to be the oldest intact Civil
War Monument. It marks what is referred to as "Hell's Half Acre".
