Natchez Trace

450 miles, from Nashville, Tn. to Natchez, Ms. In the late 1700's was used as an Indian Trail. The heaviest usage of the Trace was during
the early 1800's. When Steamboats started making their way up the

Mississippi around 1812 traffic on the Trace started to dwindle. By

the late 1820's there was very little traffic.

The current Trace was a Government C.C.C. project during the Great

Depression. Construction began in the early 1930's.
