On U.S. 70 4 miles East of Sparta
Built between 1835 and 1839 with Tennessee sandstone. Built as
a Stage Coach Stop and stopover along the old Wilderness Trail.
Andrew Jackson was a frequent visitor on his trips between
Washington D.C. and Nashville. James K. Polk, Sam Houston, and several early
Tennessee Governors were also noted guests.
Added to the National Register of Historic Sites in 1973.
