The Cabin measured 18ft. x 16ft., had a dirt floor, one window, one door,
and a small fireplace. Rather humble beginnings for someone who
would become (what many consider to be) one of our Greatest Presidents.
President Teddy Roosevelt laid the cornerstone for
the Monument in 1909. President Howard Taft dedicated the Monument in 1911. Dedicated
as a National Historic Site in 1959.
