Captain William Bowen was a Revolutionary War Hero from Virginia.
As a reward for his service during the war, he was given a 640 acre
land grant. The land was considered wilderness, and was still a part of North Carolina.
In 1784 Captain Bowen moved his family ( from Virginia ) to what is now Middle Tennessee.

By the 1960's the Bowen House was gradually falling apart.
In 1975 The Goodlettsville American Revolution Bi Centennial Comission started a complete restoration. By 1980 the house was opened for tours, and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Bowen House is part of The Mansker's Station tour.
