Union Station opened in October of 1900. It opened to great fanfare as a testament of American ingenuity. It reached it's peak during World War I I, as it was a shipping out point for tens of thousands of US troops. By the 60's traffic had dwindled to just a few trains a day, and was abandoned by the late 70's.

It was opened as a hotel in 1986. It was recently re-opened after an extensive 2 year restoration.

This is where passengers and baggage were unloaded before they went into the main part of the station.
