Walter P. Chrysler (1875-1940) joined General Motors in 1912 as a Buick Plant Manager. He became President of the Buick Division in 1916. Mr.
Chrysler left General Motors in 1919. He then took over the ailing
Maxwell Motor Corp., and in 1925 renamed it Chrysler Corp. Within 2 years Chrysler became 4th in industry sales. Acquired The Dodge Bros. Company in 1928.
The Plymouth was introduced in 1928 as an entry level vehicle to compete with Ford and Chevrolet.
