Burma Shave was introduced in 1925 by the Burma-Vita Co. of Minneapolis.
Sales were slow at first. Alan Odell came up the consecutive billboard idea, usually six signs. Burma Shave soon became the top selling shaving cream in the Country. Burma Shave became so popular, the Company was un-affected by the Great Depression. The Burma Shave billboard
campaign is considered to be the most memorable advertising campaign in history.
Though it survived the Great Depression it barely survived the 50's. as
sales declined sharply. Phillip Morris bought Burma Shave in 1962, and the beloved signs were gone by 1963.
