cesare isotta and vincenozo  franschini started their automotive company in 1900 in milan, italy. before producing their own cars, they started assembling renaults in 1904. soon after the started making their own cars. i / f introduced a four wheel brake system in 1909, and the first production in-line 8 cylinder engine in 1912. their deluxe limousines were marketed toward the growing wealthy middle class America of the 1920's. film star rudolph valentino owned a isotta franschini. i / f couldn't recover from the great depression of the 1930's, and world war ii. auto production ended in 1949
