Graceland Interior

Free Clipart

Graceland was built in 1939. I've seen it described as Colonial
Revival and Classical Revival style. The land that Graceland sits
on was developed as a 500 acre farm during the Civil War. The
property is now 13.8 acres.

In 1957 Elvis paid $100,000 for Graceland. He was 22 at the
time. His parents and Grandmother moved into Graceland too.
Priscilla moved into Graceland in 1962.

When Elvis moved into Graceland  the interior measured
10,266 sq. ft. After some modifications that Elvis made, Graceland now measures 17,552 sq. ft. There are 23 rooms, including 8 bedrooms.

Graceland opened for tours in 1982, and is the 2nd. most
visited private home in the U.S. The White House is the most visited. On average about 550,000 people visit Graceland every year.

Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
(1st Rock and Roll related site added to the N.R.H.P.)
Named a National Historic Landmark in 2006.

Graceland is 9 miles from downtown Memphis, and 4 miles
North of the Mississippi border. It is about 100 miles from
Graceland to Tupelo where Elvis was born.
