In 1934
Vernon Presley borrowed $180. With the
help of his brother and his dad they built this house.
the house is two rooms and measures 450 sq. ft. the
house is mostly original and sits on the original site.
in this house on January 8, 1935 gladys presley gave
birth to twin boys, elvis aaron and jesse garon presley. jesse was stillborn.
the furnishings in the house are not original, but are
correct for the time that the presleys lived here.
When elvis was 2 1/2 yrs. old vernon lost the house because of non payment. that led to several moves around
tupelo.
times were tough in tupelo in 1948. in November of
1948 hoping for a brighter future vernon packed up
his family and headed to memphis.
