Recognized as the Birthplace of general motors.
this building was
completed in 1896.
it was the headquarters of the durant-dort
carriage co. which ceased operations in 1917.
this building also was the headquarters for
the dort motor car co. until it ceased operations
in 1925.
it is believed that decisions were made in this
building that led to billy durant's acquisition
of the buick motor car co. in 1906. that led to
the formation of general motors in 1908.
